The hired Yukon-based physician will join the clinic’s existing team of interdisciplinary health providers to perform duties which includes conducting patient appointments, setting and monitoring patient treatment plans and providing consultation services.
The Centre de Santé Constellation Health Centre in Whitehorse, now has a doctor.
The Government of Yukon made the announcement through a media release Wednesday, that this development is in line with their continuous support to the health and wellness of all Yukoners.
The release says the hired Yukon-based physician will join the clinic’s existing team of interdisciplinary health providers to perform duties which includes conducting patient appointments, setting and monitoring patient treatment plans and providing consultation services. The addition of a doctor will further strengthen the clinic’s ability to offer high-quality, primary health care to Yukoners.
Since it opened in November 2022, the Health Centre has offered Health care services in both French and English, with virtual interpretation available in other languages, and provided integrated, primary health care services to Yukoners.
Minister of Health and Social Services Tracy-Anne McPhee said the addition of a physician to the health Centre, represents an important step forward in offering a comprehensive, and collaborative health care model in the Yukon, as the centre which is the first of its kind offers access to a range of services in both French and English.
The hiring of this new physician reflects the Yukon government’s commitment to increasing access to primary health care and implementing the recommendations and vision from the Putting People First report.
The Centre de Santé Constellation Health Centre currently serves 958 Yukoners and has been open since November 7, 2022.
