NND and Mayo RRC has concerns about the road, but supporters say it will bring jobs
The Yukon Environmental and Socio-Economic Assessment Board is recommending that a 65 kilometer all weather access road northeast of Keno proceed.
ATAC Resources is looking to build the road to its Rackla Gold property, which is still in the exploration stage.
ATAC says it needs to mobilize heavy equipment and fuel to the site, with flying not feasible.
The First Nation of Nacho Nyak Dun does have concerns about the project, as too does the Mayo Renewable Resource Council, as the project is only in the exploration stages.
Yet supporters say there is an opportunity for job creation.
The territorial government and the Nacho Nyak Dun hold the final approval, as they are designated as decision bodies.
They have 30 days to accept, reject or modify YESAB's recommendation.
