52-year-old David Nesbitt charged for using recording device near Whitehorse Elementary School
A Whitehorse man has been charged with harassment and mischief, following an incident near Whitehorse Elementary School earlier this month.
52-year-old David Nesbitt is charged after police responded to a complaint on October 24, of a suspicious man seen using an electronic device to possibly take videos of the school, employees and students.
Mounties say their investigation revealed that another incident occurred at that same location on October 14th.
Nesbitt has already appeared in court and was released on conditions including staying 50 metres away from Whitehorse Elementary School, not attending any school grounds, parks, playgrounds or pools in the territory and not possessing a cell phone or any other devices capable of making recordings. He will appear again in court November 8th.
The Department of Education is beefing up security at Whitehorse Elementary School. Additional security is now assigned to the school from 7 AM to midnight Monday to Friday and 9 AM to 6PM on weekends, until the matter is resolved.
