Corporal Patrick Russell says one person on the snowmobile was medevaced to Whitehorse Hospital for precautionary reasons.
One youth from Old Crow has had to be medevaced to Whitehorse following a snowmobile accident near the community on Wednesday at 10:30pm.
Three youth were on the snowmobile when it struck a tree as the sled was going down a path.
RCMP Corporal Patrick Russell says the investigation is ongoing.
"One of the youth was medevaced to Whitehorse General Hospital as a precautionary measure. The police are currently investigating. Because these individuals are youth it won't likely result in any charges. We are however interested in how the youth obtained the snowmobile and who gave them permission to use it. That's really the focus of our investigation at this point."
Russell says the majority of residents operate snowmobiles in Old Crow as it is a fly-in community.
"Because Old Crow is fly-in only, really the mode of transportation around here in the wintertime is by sled. There are probably 10-12 vehicles in the community but there are probably 80-85 snowmobiles."
Because the incident involved youth, Russell says no names are being disclosed in the investigation.
