One person is dead and another person is in serious condition following a single vehicle crash yesterday morning near Haines Junction.
RCMP say a single vehicle collision near Haines Junction yesterday morning has left one 21-year-old woman from Washington dead and another 21-year-old man from Alaska in serious condition.
RCMP say they were called to the scene near Marshall Creek yesterday at 11:30 am. With the help of the Haines Junction Fire Departnment and Ibex Valley Fire Department, crews determined that a Nissan Titan pickup truck left the highway and flipped over near the side of the road.
Both occupants were transported to Whitehorse General hospital, where the female died from her injuries prior to arrival. The man has since been medevaced to Vancouver due to the severity of his injuries.
The incident is still being investigated by Haines Junction RCMP and the Yukon Coroner's Service. Alcohol or drugs are not believed to be a factor in the incident.
