Minister of Justice Tracy-Anne Mcphee and RCMP Commanding Officer Chief Superintendent Scott Sheppard announced an agreed capital plan to guide investments until 2022.
A new operational model in Faro and Ross River changes the 3 members in each community to an amalgamated 5 into the hub detachment of Ross River.
Some retrofitting will take place in the 30 year old Ross River station, as well as the 46 year old Faro satellite office.
The additional officer is now going to be re-deployed to the vast area of Burwash Landing and the Destruction Bay corridor.
A new Carcross detachment is slated for construction, headed by the RCMP and partnered with C/TFN, the Dept of Public Works and the Dept of Justice.
The construction to replace the 36 year old building is governed under the current 20-year territorial police service agreement where Canada will finance 30% with an early estimate of the total costs being $11-million.
The rcmp remain committed to maintaining a strong community presence in all jurisdictions.
