The opening reception was held at 5:30pm on Thursday for the new exhibits.
Artistic Expressions was part of an opening reception held yesterday at the Yukon Arts Centre at 5:30 for four new exhibits.
The Artistic Expressions exhibit showcases artwork from ten residents of four continuing care homes and runs until September 29th.
The School of Visual Arts (SOVA) was also part of the event highlighting their students pieces.
The SOVA exhibit runs from September 6 thru to October 13th, and Kerry Barber, a curator and artist who was part of the opening reception at the exhibit, highlights the interest and story behind the Yukon School of Visual Arts.
"There's a lot of interest in people coming up from the south and going to school in the north and a lot of locals going through (the program) too before they go out. A lot of the artists stay after they do their first year."
The SOVA program is one year and is equivalent to the the first year of a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
Yukon School of VIsual Arts has been operating for 11 years and is a partnership between the Dawson City Arts Society, Yukon College and the Tr'ondek Hwech'in Government.
The other exhibits at the opening ceremony included Arts Underground and the Yukon Artists at Work.
