The North's main telecommunications company is easing the data overage pain beginning July 1st.
NorthwesTel has been forgiving data overage fees since covid-19 rules came into effect in March and more people were spending time at home.
The exemption was set to expire at the end of the month.
President Curtis Shaw says business customers were asking for more usage as activity increases.He says changes to NorthwesTel Internet plans will make more permanent usage available in every community while respecting the capacity constraints of local network technologies.
Shaw says the telco received regulatory approval from the CRTC to permanently boost the amount of data on select Internet Plans, with no rate increases. Many non-regulated plans will also see a monthly data increase.
The discount depends on what kind of plan you subscribe to.
