Early estimates peg increase at 15 percent, but Libs looking to bring that number down.
Yukoners are going to soon pay more for hydro, but the exact rate increase is not yet known.
The New Democrats say this could be as high as 15 percent, based on previous government estimates.
The Minister Responsible for the Yukon Energy Corporation Ranj Pillai acknowledges that a rate increase is coming, but is trying to bring the hike in under 15 percent.
Pillai says a rate application is being currently developed and could not speculate on the increase.
NDP Leader Liz Hanson says the government needs to release this information to the public and possible alternatives to the rate increase.
She says Yukon Energy beat forecasted profits as a cold winter and the extension of production at Minto mine have improved the corporation’s finances.
