A GoFundMe page has been setup for Dawson resident Dwayne Kelly after he lost most of his possessions in a houseboat fire earlier this week.
Yukoners are getting behind a campaign to support musician Dwayne Kelly after his houseboat was engulfed in a fire in Dawson this week.
A GoFundMe page has since been setup by Yukoner Donna Clayson to help get Kelly get back on his feet. He lost a keyboard, a guitar, two dogs and almost all his personal possessions in the fire.
Clayson says there was multiple reasons for creating the GoFundMe page.
"I've known Dwayne for about 11 years now. I've seen his struggles and I've known him better in the last year. I've been helping him along as much as I can. With this latest fire, I just felt that he needs help and I'm here to help him."
Clayson says the money raised will go a long way towards supporting Kelly.
"The money will go towards accommodations and food for the winter for him and his dogs. He has three dogs left as two died in the fire. He needs money basically to live this winter. Maybe we'll move on and try and find him a cabin. We're going to talk to him tomorrow about it."
