Three people have been infected there.
It’s been almost four weeks since the last reported cases of COVID-19 in the territory, but now Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Brendan Hanley is declaring an outbreak at a Yukon mine.
Three people have been infected at the Victoria Gold Mine Site. Two of them are residents of the territory and the third is from another part of Canada. All three are recovering and isolating on site. These are also the territory’s first reported cases in a mine.
Victoria Gold has an approved communicable disease management plan and an on-site medical team. The cases are being confirmed by lab testing in B.C.
There is also a fourth new case not at the mine. They are a Yukon resident who was infected and diagnosed outside of territory and will remain out of the territory.
The new cases are number 85, 86, and 87 for the Yukon
They do not come with any public exposure notices.
Anyone experiencing symptoms should arrange to get tested.
