A Delta Air Lines airbus flight travelling from Fairbanks, Alaska, to Seattle Washington made an unscheduled stop in Whitehorse
Reports from social media..indicate the landing at the Eric Neilson Intl. was a precaution because of the .aircraft's auxiliary power unit and none of the 18 passengers on board were injured
Auxiliary power units provide energy to run systems on board an airplane
The plane landed at Whitehorse International Airport at about 8:35 am local time.
Passengers were taken by airport staff from the plane across the tarmac to the terminal building.
Many were wearing masks .... passengers were not allowed to leave the international lounge.
Airport staff were working with the COVID-19 response team, Canadian Border Services Agency and Delta ensuring all rules were followed.
Another Delta jet from Seattle picked up the 18 passengers in Whitehorse Saturday night.
