Household Hazardous Waste materials include motor oil and their containers, solvents, gasoline, BBQ starter, anti-freeze, household cleaning products, compact fluorescent light bulbs, pesticides, aerosol cans and other containers under pressure such as bear spray and propane canisters.
The event has been extended to provide Whitehorse residents more opportunities to safely dispose of Household Hazardous Waste. Household Hazardous Waste will be accepted at the Waste Management Facility Friday September 11th from 12 pm – 5 pm and Saturday September 12th from 10 am – 5 pm.
In partnership with Yukon Government Community Services, the City is preparing to implement physical distancing throughout the event. Please be aware that these measures may cause traffic delays.
Household Hazardous Waste materials include motor oil and their containers, solvents, gasoline, BBQ starter, anti-freeze, household cleaning products, compact fluorescent light bulbs, pesticides, aerosol cans and other containers under pressure such as bear spray and propane canisters. Commercial hazardous waste is not accepted and regular tipping fees apply for all non-Household Hazardous Waste.
Note that electronic and electrical waste is no longer accepted and should be brought to the Raven Recycling E-waste Collection Depot.

- Household Hazardous Waste Day is on Friday September 11th from 12 pm – 5 pm and Saturday September 12th from 10 am – 5 pm, at the Whitehorse Waste Management Facility (6 km north of downtown at Mile 919.72 Alaska Highway).
- Household Hazardous Waste days provide residents with free, safe disposal of household hazardous waste material.
- Household Hazardous Waste days do not accept commercial hazardous waste, e-waste, or 45 gallon drums.
