An Alkan Air plane has crashed near Mayo Lake.
The following statement (with minor edits by CHON-FM) has been issued by Alkan Air:
At approximately 1208 today, August 6th 2019, an Alkan Air C208 Caravan carrying one passenger and one pilot was reported missing after leaving Rackla, Yukon en-route to Mayo, Yukon.
At 1330 a fly-over located the aircraft on the North side of the Mayo Lake and we are currently working with emergency response personnel and local authorities to access the site.
At this time we can confirm that there are no survivors on-board.
Our hearts go out to everyone that is involved, this is truly a heartbreaking time at Alkan Air. We appreciate your patience and will update you as additional information is gathered.
