In a press release, Blood Ties says the new van will help to offer mobile fentanyl testing for patients as well as provide enhanced support for marginalized individuals in the territory.
An outreach coordinator will also be using the vehicle to provide daytime service and follow-up care with patients, and the investment was also spurred together by the Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Society Yukon and the Kwanlin Dun Cultural Centre.
Commenting on the initiative, Blood Ties Director Patricia Bacon says the new van will help to take over services from their current 15-year-old aging van.
Blood Tires currently receives $200,000 annually in government funding to help provide support services for Yukoners in need.
In 2019 alone, the aging van was used over 7,000 times to approximately 1,400 different individuals in Yukon.
