The food monitoring study to start in June, results in November
The Yukon Anti-Poverty Coalition is undertaking a participatory food cost monitoring research project next month.
The group is targeting food prices in Whitehorse, Faro, Mayo, Carmacks, Carcross, Watson Lake, Teslin, Dawson City, Old Crow, Pelly Crossing, Ross River, and Haines Junction.
Costs will be based on buying a basket of 67 food items formulated by Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada, called the Revised Northern Food Basket.
The Coalition says it wants to better understand the true cost of eating healthy in the Yukon.
Results from the project will be released in November.
