Demit beat former Chief David Johnny Sr. by four votes
Incumbent Angela Demit narrowly beat out challenger, David Johnny Sr. for Chief of the White River First Nation, in an election held Saturday.
Demit took 38 votes to Johnny's 34. Douglas Joe and Christine Sam were elected as Northern Tutchone Councillors, with Dwayne Broenen serving as the alternate councillor.
Charles Eickland Sr and Patrick Johnny were elected as the two Upper Tanana Councillors, with David Johnny Sr. accepting the position as alternate Councillor.
The Beaver Creek based First Nation had 133 registered voters 73 cast votes and there was one spoiled ballot.
