A Yukon Supreme Court recount has confirmed Debra-Leigh Reti as the winner in the Vuntut Gwitchin district. Reti, the Yukon Liberal Party candidate, secured 52 votes, narrowly beating Annie Blake with 45 votes and Sandra Charlie with 34 votes.
According to a media release, the narrow margin triggered the automatic recount, with Justice Karen Wenckebach overseeing the process. The Supreme Court conducted the recount, as required by law when the difference is 10 votes or less.
With the recount complete, Reti, representing the Yukon Liberal Party, will take the seat. The official results for all districts have been finalized and received by the Chief Electoral Officer.
