The Supreme Court is operating with a reduced court staff as previously stated in the March 17, 2020 Notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- The public door into the Registry is now locked and access to the Registry shall be limited to one person at a time.
- There is no change in the cases being heard. Those already scheduled will proceed if necessary, by telephone appearance only.
- There will be no jury trials in April, May or June. Criminal Chambers will continue by video or telephone.
- There will be no new matters heard, except for urgent and emergency matters. Lawyers may email the Trial Coordinator to ask for court time.
- A judge will determine if the matter is to proceed. Case Management Conferences and Family Law Case Conferences will continue to be scheduled.
- In exceptional cases, if in-person hearings are requested and approved, social distancing must be maintained by those present.
- The Supreme Court will post its daily court schedule (dockets) on its website at www.yukoncourts.ca.
Please contact 867-667-5441 to make an appointment. When calling from the communities the toll-free number is 1-800-661-0408, ext 5441. You will be let into the Registry by the staff at the time of your appointment. This is for the safety of the public and Registry staff.
The public and the profession will be advised when matters can be set down for regular hearing, once the COVID-19 pandemic permits.
