Union says City is preparing for a possible strike.
Conciliation talks between the City of Whitehorse and its unionized employees has broken off.
Yukon Employees Union President Steve Geick confirms the breakdown, saying there will be a three-week cooling off period before both sides return to the negotiating table.
Geick says the major issues for the union include at two-tiered working system and severance packages.
He says the City met Tuesday afternoon to discuss strike preparations, even though the union has not set a meeting for membership to consider a strike.
Geick says at this point municipal services will remain unchanged as it will be business as usual.
