Police say the driver of a tractor-trailer reported having collided into the Big Creek River Bridge around 4:15 p.m., resulting in the truck being jack-knifed across the bridge entrance, making it impossible for traffic to get through.
The Alaska Highway was closed to traffic in both directions for about 5 hours while crews worked to clear the truck from the scene.
The bridge is being assessed by engineers.
The department of Highways is advising motorists that the bridge is reduced to one-lane with a maximum speed of 20KPH, and all overweight vehicles will be restricted.
