New legislation is expected this spring.
The Liberals say they are moving forward with the creation of the Order of Yukon Award.
Announced by the previous government in June 2016, the award was to recognize exemplary service to the community, as the territory did not have such a distinction.
Yet on Monday, Premier Sandy Silver announced the next steps, which include drafting legislation to create the Order---to be tabled in the spring.
However, the government is light on details, specifically about nominations, saying the new Commissioner will announce that. A new Commissioner is expected in February.
At the time of the initial announcement, former Premier Darrell Pasloski stated that the Commissioner would be the first person named to the Order and act as Chancellor to the Order.
