The program's objective was to demystify opera and promote curiosity among First Nations and non-First Nations students.
Edmonton Opera and the Yukon Arts Centre partnered to deliver opera workshops to schools across the territory from October 7 to 11.
Led by emerging artists Spencer Kryzanowski, Connor Hoppenbrouwers, and Rachael McAuley, the program's objective was to demystify opera and promote curiosity among First Nations and non-First Nations students.
Casey Prescott, Yukon Arts Centre's CEO, emphasized the importance of showcasing opera's beauty and physical demands.
The partnership, supported by the Azrieli Foundation, will continue in 2025 with additional workshops and residencies, including a February residency at the Klondike Institute for Arts and Culture and participation in Edmonton Opera's Rumbold Vocal Prize competition.
