The COVID Coordination team is hard at work.
The Council of Yukon First Nations COVID coordination team is distributing rapid tests and thanks to a donation from Clorox Canada, 70,000 packages of disinfectant wipes to Yukon First Nations.
CYFN also says they have delivered two GeneXpert rapid testing machines to Yukon First Nations made possible through the Public Health Agency of Canada. The machines enable lab quality in-community delivery of test results within 30 minutes.
“It is heartening to see organizations step up to support Yukon First Nations on the front lines of this pandemic and the most vulnerable in our communities. We thank Clorox for their generous donation which will help Yukon First Nations and non-profits with infection prevention to make accessing community services safer for Yukon First Nations,” said CYFN Grand Chief Peter Johnston in a statement.
The COVID Coordination team was put together by CYFN at the beginning of the pandemic to provide communications and logistical support to Yukon First Nations.
CYFN has been handing out rapid tests since the fall and has distributed around 7000 of them. They have more in stock and will continue to supply them to Yukon First Nations as requested.
