The deal includes provisions for economic development and consultation requirements.
The Chief of the Champagne and Aishihik First Nations says a new exploration agreement with Strategic Metals is a win-win. An exploration agreement was signed last week, which provides a framework for consultation pertaining to all exploration activities undertaken by Strategic Metals within CAFN Traditional Territory, excluding Category A and B Lands as defined in the Umbrella Final Agreement. The arrangement also lays out that consultation is expected to begin at the earliest stages of exploration and continue throughout the duration of the project. Chief Steve Smith spoke to reporter Dan Jones about the agreement.
