Conservation Officers Shoot Black Bear Near Mt. Sima

CO's say bear was frequenting a yard containing several attractants.

Conservation Officers say they shot and killed an adult black bear in the Mt. Sima Subdivision Friday.

C-O's say they had to kill the bear after repeated efforts to deter it, including use of rubber bullets.

The bear had apparently frequented a yard containing several attractants, with reports of bears obtaining food on properties in the Pine Ridge, Wolf Creek and Meadow Lakes areas.

Authorities say with a dry spring, bears food sources are scarce, forcing the bruins to seek alternate food sources.

The public is reminded to keep their properties free of attractants.
