Klondike Placer Miners' Association Hosts Annual Meeting in Dawson City

    The meeting took place in Dawson City last Friday.

    The annual general meeting for the Klondike Placer Miners' Association was held on Friday, September 07 in Dawson City.

    Duties conducted were the election of officers, including two new directors who were elected at the meeting to serve membership.

    Kyle Bruce and Pascal Mcburney were welcomed to the board, and a special thanks was given to John McConnell and Dean Russel who dedicated years to the industry and association.

    Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in Chief Roberta Joseph was also there coordinating and conducting the opening ceremony for the meeting.

    The Klondike Placer Miners' Association was established in 1974 by 56 placer miners in the Dawson City and was designed to promote and protect the interest of Yukon's placer mining industry.

    90 million dollars worth of placer gold was extracted by the association alone in 2017.
