The Kwanlin Dun First Nation is asking Yukoners to take some precautions while walking on their settlement land with hunting season in full gear.
The Kwanlin Dun First Nation is asking Yukoners to be cautious when walking on their settlement land with hunting season in full gear.
In a statement, they ask anyone whose biking or camping on their settlement land to wear high visibility clothing and to avoid such areas before 10 am and after 5pm when hunters are most active.
The First Nation is is also recommending Yukoners to keep dogs on leashes and to stay on trails that go through their settlement land during hunting season.
Popular settlement land areas include areas around Fish Lake, areas south of the Ibex Valley and northwest portions of the South Klondike Highway.
Hunting season in the territory officially kicked off on August 1st.
