The Yukon Government will test their emergency public alert system on compatible cell phones, television and radio broadcasts.
The Yukon Government will be testing their emergency public alert system this Wednesday at 1:55 pm.
The alert will be broadcast across most wireless devices, radio stations and television broadcasts, and will act as a practice test in the event a real emergency hits the Yukon.
The alert will be identified as a test, with a real test alert containing instructions.
The AlertReady System was introduced this past April, and its the second nation-wide test alert since its introduction.
Yukoner's are also asked to check their own wireless service providers to see if their own device is compatible with the AlertReady system, as both the federal, provincial and territorial government can issue alerts in their owned defined geographic area.
Along with the test alert, The territorial government is reminding Yukoner's to have a emergency plan and 72-hour emergency kit available to them in the event a disaster does hit the Territory.
