AUDIO: First Nations and Yukon Gov sit to Talk About Concluding Peel Plan

    The affected First Nations and gov officials met in Dawson City in late January to chart a path to finalizing a land use plan for the Peel Watershed.

    Affected First Nations within the Peel Watershed and the Yukon government wasted little time in getting together to discuss a way forward in finalizing the Land Use Plan.

    Chiefs of the Tr'ondek Hwech'in, Nacho Nyak Dun, Vuntut Gwich'in and Gwich'in Trial Council met with Premier Silver and several ministers in Dawson City January 29th.

    It was agreed that a liaison committee, comprised of senior officials from all parties will be established. Energy, Mines and Resources Minister Ranj Pillai spoke to Dan Jones about restarting the Peel talks.
